cabinet sorted

Found an bathroom cabinet that i have added hooks to using my workx (new birthday pressie). I think i may have under-estimated the size needed for the fan - we'll see.

Now waiting on the list of ebay items to arrive and to figure out what to use as a door. Perspex would be nice... i wish i had checked when i was at Bunnings last weekend.

In terms of electrical setup - i have decided to go for the easy route of having separate power sources for the fan and light. I don't know much about diy electrical but i know enough to hook up the PC fan to a dc power source by stripping back the cables and twisting the correct cables together... but that's about the extent. If you know an electrician you could have a neat setup all going to a single power outlet using a transformer and a power splitter which would save some space.

More to come.

First post... sourcing parts

Started to blog to help document the guild process in case others in Australia may want to make a similar DIY Biltong Box. Sure you can buy a snazzy one for $150-$200 dollars or use a cardboard/plastic box but i though it would be a fun project to make a wooden one. I've been researching a couple of days now and have started to order the parts i can online. I'll be giving a write up and documenting the process. It may take a good 1/2 weeks + for the cheapy ebay parts to arrive from china/hong kong, but hopefully i'll have it sorted by chrissy time when i'll have some time off work to give it a try. The idea is to do it on the cheap but make it decent looking :)

The next post will be when i have everything i'll need to start together. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers!
